Chicago Lighthouse

Home / Touch Graphics / Maps

Touch Graphics created its first talking tactile floor plan at Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind in 2008. The first design used a video projector shining down on a 3D printed tactile map. Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Janet Szlyk, Chicago Lighthouse has served as a design laboratory, so Touch Graphics and research partners at Center for Inclusive Design and Environmental Access, University at Buffalo could test four generations of interactive talking tactile building directories for this complicated facility, with many visually impaired employees and visitors.
